Brunch has got to be the best meal of the day. But when it comes to it, I rarely venture out of the little bubble that is Harborne with establishments such as the Plough, Boo Boo coffee and Boston Tea Party right on my doorstep. This time however, my friends and I decided to venture out to Moseley, upon receiving a recommendation about Lewis’s.
Lewis’s is hardly a secret for Moseley locals. Walking into this cosy café, we were greeted with the smell of freshly baked sourdough loaves, which you are able to purchase, much like a mini bakery. Lewis’s has a snug, intimate feel with vibrant, cottage style decor. Orange juice is freshly pressed right in front of your eyes and the few minutes we spent waiting on a table were spent ogling the various cake offerings.
On the brunch menu you’ll find the aforementioned freshly baked sourdough accompanying the brunch dishes. I went for the Lewis’ breakfast, their take on a Full English. Whilst not the most incredible Full English I’ve ever tasted it certainly ticked the box in terms of satisfying comfort food. The vegetarian breakfast was popular, preferentially opted for by both my meat-loving friends, and consisted of spinach, mushroom, halloumi, avocado, sourdough bread and poached eggs.
Overall, I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit if you’re looking for a mind-blowing brunch dish, but if you happen to be in the area and comfort food is what you’re after (or a freshly baked loaf of sourdough!), support this local business – you can’t go too wrong at Lewis’s.
